Ethelbert Dudley Warfield letter, 1889 May 21.

Warfield wrote this letter May 21, 1889, in response to a correspondent requesting information about Warfield's grandfather, Elisha (1781-1859), the noted Lexington horse breeder. This letter was addressed to "Mr. Rout" and was written on the letterhead of Miami University during Warfield's tenure as president of that institution. Warfield reported he had no autograph of his grandfather. He referred to various portraits of Elisha Warfield in existence. Ethelbert Warfield also made reference to his book, THE KENTUCKY RESOLUTIONS OF 1798, concerning the famous declarations against the Alien and Sedition Acts.
